About Greg

Get to know Greg

I graduated with honors from Washington State University in 1987 with a degree from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication and a minor in Criminal Justice. Following the siren’s song of the law rather than broadcast journalism, I spent the next two years in Honolulu, Hawaii working for the prosecutor’s office in the Victim’s Kokua (victim’s assistance) Unit and surfing the south shore surf breaks of Oahu.

I returned to the mainland in 1989 to attend law school at the University of Oregon. Upon graduation and passing the bar exam in 1992, I began work at a mid-sized personal injury firm in Vancouver, Washington where I focused on employment law, civil rights litigation and personal injury. Years later I became a principal in the firm of Ferguson & Schoenfeld, PLLC prior to opening an employment law and civil rights boutique practice representing primarily employees. As the years passed, I gradually took on additional management-side work, advising small to mid-sized companies on employment law compliance, implementation of written policies, and litigation defense.

I have been practicing law for three decades, and have litigated and tried to verdict a wide variety of civil cases throughout the Pacific Northwest in the areas of employment, trade secrets/restrictive covenants, personal injury, open government/public records, civil rights/excessive force, and commercial and business disputes.

I and my wife Elizabeth, and our dogs Beckett and Brody, share time between Vancouver, Washington, and our vacation home in the Columbia River Gorge east of White Salmon. We are avid fly fishers and wine enthusiasts, and enjoy backpacking and hiking Mount Adams, Mount Hood, and Mount Rainier. Despite feeling the effects of post middle-age, I continue to surf the frigid waters of the Oregon coast, fly fish throughout the pacific northwest and the Rockies, and occasionally perform stand-up comedy.
